Long overdue updates, last time I updated my journal was at the end of January. I had to because I had just received a DD but at the time I could barely sit more than 5 or 10 minutes.

First, I just noticed that some anonymous deviant gave me a one month subscription. I hope I didn't notice too long after the fact without thanking them. So, whoever you are and it would be nice to know :)  thank you so much, I really appreciate   I just noticed it the day before my birthday, so I'll take it as a birthday gift :D

Second, I've been feeling better since I last posted in my journal. Let's say that I'm probably now at 80%, enough that I can now sit and create. Physiotherapy, walking and stabilization and stretching exercises are improving my disc hernia. I have two new images to post, I've just been procrastinating :D   The first one is one I completed back in December before my back made it impossible for me to sit down. The second one, I completed recently. I will post them soon, I think I've been a bit enthusiastic about being able to create and I'm still a bit limited, I can't stay in front of my computer as much as I used to and I try to get up and move more often. I've become a bit selfish with my time on the computer :D

Last but not least, :iconfourteenthstar:  (on DA staff) has a monthly column in Digital Artist magazine, talking about deviantART news, trends and updates but also featuring the artwork of three deviants. She chose my mermaid for issue 17. I was really happy and flattered that my image was chosen among all the images and artists of DA, I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't find the magazine issue on the stands, because it was 3 issues back when I found out, so I wrote the magazine and they said they would send me a copy. Here is a copy of her column: fav.me/d3gjsos

just saw this - congrats on the Digital Artist magazine feature, that's awesome! Hope by now you're feeling better. I've been doing PT for my back as well, which has helped with the main source of pain but seems to have transferred in to my side :( !

Thank you! Same here. After I did PT, the main source of pain improved but it also transferred to my side and I also felt a lot of strain in my middle back, shoulders and neck. Then I went to a friend massage therapist. That helped, it improved after that and I was just noticing this afternoon that I was feeling better, even after spending long hours on the computer. Not a 100% yet but better. I guess the physical therapy changes our posture and puts muscle strain on the rest, because we're not used to use our muscles that way. Now I need to find my muse again :D I was kind of casually looking for a house in the past couple of months but then everyone got on board with me (even if I wasn't ready haha) and I found and bought a house. So now, I'm kind of obsessed with how I will decorate, even if I have to wait a few months before I move in, because the current owners are waiting for a new house to be built. Cool house, semi detached built in 1920 in great shape, with lots of character and old wooden floors, fitting for an artist and inspiring :D And walking distance from shops, restaurants and the river and marina. Too isolated where I am currently living, so it will be a nice change.

Congrats on the house, sounds fantastic! Glad to hear your back is finally doing better. Mine has been really bad the past week, too much time on the computer between work and freelance :( A massage sounds wonderful... I need a massage therapist friend :)

Thank you! I feel it too though when I spend too much time on the computer, like the last few days :D But I started walking again today and did my stretching exercises. When I went to the physiotherapist, I also took a 5 night class regarding the health of the back and the exercises really help. Good thing I had insurance, the physiotherapy got pretty expensive after a few months.

I'm so glad to see you are improving!! I can relate, having had that happen with my back years ago, when my son was about 2. Happy belated B-Day!!! And congrats on the mag!

Thank you! I also had an episode about 10 years ago, this time around it seems to take longer to completely heal... or while the hernia has healed at 80%, I have more pressure on the rest of my back, go figures, maybe my back is learning to hold straight or something.

It's so good to hear from you again and know that you are slowly getting better! I've so missed your work, but while I know it's said artists must suffer for their art, well, you've more than paid your dues!!! Congrats for getting featured in Digital Artist magazine, that's so wonderful and you so deserve it. Ok, I'll stop rambling, but it is just wonderful to have news from you.
